Build Skills

It's a given that candidates in any talent development or job transition process need opportunities to build essential skills—and no two candidates' needs or learning styles are the same. Some organizations will assign a mentor or coach; others will provide one or more of the following: case studies, "how-to" courses (online / print), homemade inbox exercises, book lists, etc. Coordinating all of this can be a real challenge but, by partnering with Cornerstone, you will have at your fingertips all the tools you will need for individualized development.

Every candidate who completes intraspec® will have already created their own customized My Personal Development Plan. This document targets the skills that need to be developed and provides a variety of specific activities to help achieve those goals. It also includes sections for the direct manager and / or mentor to document observations and feedback to track the candidate’s progress, ultimately standardizing your organization's development process.

Cornerstone offers a number of interactive tools that allow candidates to build on the essential skills introduced in intraspec®:

  • Innovative self-study modules that are structured around evolving case studies, an online inbox and, when appropriate, one-on-one interactions. Model responses and feedback are provided instantly.
  • Individual case studies that include role-player instructions and evaluation guides for enhancing one-on-one interactions, such as coaching and counseling sessions, sales calls, and account calls.

Cornerstone recommends that a coach or mentor be assigned to work with each candidate throughout the development process. The coach can not only be a valuable resource for information and experience, but also monitor the candidate’s progress and provide constant and immediate feedback to reinforce learning.

The Cornerstone Coach’s Guide addresses all the skills and competencies that the coach needs to discuss in order to optimize the developmental experience and prepare the candidate for the target position. Other resources, such as a candidate progress report, are also incorporated into the guide.
